George Ugras

George is a Managing Director at AV8 Ventures based in Silicon Valley. AV8 is an early stage venture fund with offices in Palo Alto and London. Prior to AV8, George led IBM Ventures. Prior to IBM he was a financial venture investor for over 15 years. He has founded and run start-ups during his career and served as advisor and director to a number of venture-backed companies.
George started his investment career at Apax Partners, a global investment firm. Prior to Apax he was with McKinsey & Co. in New York. Dr. Ugras has lectured on entrepreneurship and advised on technology pin-offs at various universities. He has served on the boards of Corporate Venturing arm of NVCA and visiting committee for NASA. Dr. Ugras holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Yale and was a research fellow at CalTech.
