Dr. Levitan is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for IBM Watson Health Oncology and Genomics. He provides oversight globally for the development and implementation of a suite of artificial intelligence-based tools to support clinicians in the delivery of state-of-the-art cancer care. Functionality includes expert decision support, clinical trials matching, and interpretation of tumor genomic sequencing. Dr. Levitan joined IBM in the spring of 2018. Prior to the current position, he served as President of the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, part of the NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. He led the development and oversight of a new, free-standing academic cancer hospital and a large network of ambulatory sites. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of University Hospitals Health System, a 14-hospital academic health system based in Northern Ohio. Dr. Levitan is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist. He practiced for many years and also conducted clinical research related to thoracic oncology.
