The Amazon Echo is a brand of smart speakers developed by Amazon. The Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) is a collection of self-service APIs, tools, documentation, and code samples that makes it easier for healthcare organizations to build Alexa skills. Skills are like apps for Alexa, enabling customers to perform everyday tasks or engage with content naturally with voice. The Alexa Skills Kit now enables select Covered Entities and their Business Associates, subject to the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), to build Alexa skills that transmit and receive protected health information as part of an invite-only program.
